The CharroBoys faced some technical difficulties, but we made it work. Estaba buena la platica since this was our longest episode in a while. Today’s topic deals with the crazy hours that clients have the audacity to ask for. It doesn’t always work out unfortunately. We also get into playing in a room with a corpse, watching boxing, puros corridos on the playlist, wearing new suits, and Sammy’s teacher duties. You ever show up to a ridiculous time for a gig and the client doesn’t pick up the phone? 🥴

The CharroBoys get into the topic of the day: super rare facts that our listeners know about mariachi culture and history. It seems we’ve all heard many myths and legends in the mariachi industry so we discuss some of the things you’ve heard around. We get into conspiracy theories, promposals, slow singers, and bunch of other shenanigans. Come join the pendejadas. 

Ciento Seis - Lamberto Beantero

The CharroBoys got into it today with what it’s like to tell a boss you’re leaving for another group or opportunity. We talk about how daunting the task can be, also we dive into times we had to do the same thing in former groups. We also get into being sick, flaking last minute, our boss going on vacation, and Vic being sus. We played from people from Sinaloa too and we were scared. 

Ciento Cinco - Nadie Es Eterno En El Grupo

The CharroBoys had a late night recording. We get into some Rangers baseball talk, dying, misunderstandings with fellow group members, Victor’s glow up, judges opinions during a competition, Sammy forgetting things that happened, and Victor almost getting beat up by a girl’s husband. We can’t be held accountable for what we said when we were sleepy. 😔

The CharroBoys discuss a very important topic: who/what has made the biggest impact on mariachi today? We discuss the different people and things that have molded the music like artists, arrangers, mariachi in schools, and its ventures around other genres. Disclaimer* we are no experts, just a couple of dudes that know nothing. Don’t trust us. Trust the experts, we can’t even read music 😬

Ciento Tres - Gabeano Barrera

This episode was outta pocket. Like literally. Clients and their weird sayings and doings, severe weather alerts, getting kissed on the cheek, cops grabbing a plate, weird key signatures, playing next to a fire for warmth. Outta pocket episode fr tho.

The CharroBoys had to record a lil early this week since Vic wasn’t gonna be in town, so he showed up in traje. We get into some good stuff this week like getting humbled musically, biology, someone else playing your instrument because you’re so bad, and playing in a group with a director like the movie Whiplash. Tengo miedo. 

Ciento Uno - Tu Nombre Me Sabe A Kush

The CharroBoys talk about some good stuff here. They get into it with this week’s viral Facebook post, favorite celebrity mariachi moments, letting someone play your instrument, unpopular mariachi artist opinions, and the camaraderie with your fellow mariachi members.  All we know is we won’t send our singing videos to anyone anymore 😔 

Cien - La Nueva Dimensión

Y’all thought it was over yet huh? The CharroBoys are back, baby. New studio, new equipment, and same beans. We’re happy to be back discussing the beautiful and tragic lives of working mariachi musicians like ourselves and many of you. We get back into the swing of things with talking about about what we’ve been up to the last couple of months, playing in rainy weather, the World Cup, people who ask for songs incorrectly, and dealing with intoxicated clients. We’re happy to be back, y’all. 

Noventa y Nueve - Adiós Mis Chorreadas

Episode 99 is upon us, and as much as we want to do 100 for y’all, the CharroBoys are going on a break. Bringing this show to the best of our ability and availability to you is what makes this show special. In order to make 100 episodes more special, we have to take some time away from the pod to focus on our ourselves and come back even stronger. I have always made this show and it’s content a high priority and we cannot let that get in the way of other important factors of our lives. With that being said, we hope you enjoy one more episode for the time being. We can’t wait to be back with you, beans. Today, we get into the playing in bounce houses as kids, waiters criticizing your sound system, walking in with a horse, playing for Saul’s sister’s XV, and clients have hat just want cumbias. Y’all gonna dance for 2 hours or what?
